Well I didn’t go looking for a Caddy at the time (Feb 2001). I had just moved up to Boston, MA for a job fresh out of college and my custom ride at the time got hit 5 times in one year. It didn’t survive the last hit frame-wise so off to hunting for a new ride. My protocol for a ride was to fit more then 2 people and all my toys (sound & Suspension). Someone suggested a Caddy so I stopped by a dealership. I found a black one and took a test drive. The sticker price left me in shock, so I priced out several others at different dealerships. Next thing I know they are competing for me to buy one. I ended up with the 1995 black Fleetwood Brougham for half the sticker price and shocked everyone by showing up in it. I was totally clueless about the engine and other B&D body fanatics.

I started searching the net for other Caddies and accessory stores to see what I could do to it besides the main purpose of adding hydraulics to the car. I discovered the NAISSO store and the Impalassforums.com. Thru the latter I met a group that eventually became known as BADASS of NE. This opened up a whole new world and view of my type of ride to hot-roddin’ and gear-heads besides mini-truckers, low-riders, and sound fanatics. Twizted Stylz auto club was founded from this camaraderie, friendship, and love for customizing rides.

The modding began almost immediately after the purchase of the Caddy. I had 14” wire wheels, LT1 engine dress, and the Autometer Pod with 3 Nordskorg digital gauges installed within the first year. These were simple bolt-on accessories as I researched what I wanted to do with the car. Obviously I wanted adjustable suspension and was set on hydraulics. However, I wanted this car to reach new levels and to plan for future modifications. I wanted to do most of the modification only once. I had gotten tired of redoing things or not having the type of ride to make a show winner. Within that year, a 2 pump hydraulic setup was installed paying attention to every detail as we could (powder-coated smoothed rack, carpeted trunk, Street Charger, etc.). I knew I would have to go back and hit some details again but that’s the fun part.

After the hydros were installed I wanted to prove something to the low-rider world: That these cars can have a smooth ride with some thought put into it. I had installed accumulators with the hydro setup and the ride wasn’t bad. I moved on to adjusting spring coils, adding front shocks, and replacing the rear lower control arms with BMR’s. With the combination the car looks and rides like a Cadillac at any speed and has been driven to NC and back several times (15 hour trips one way). I built this car to be driven during the summer every day and yet compete with the heavy hitters at the shows. Now that I had the driving part down and the sleeper hydraulics, I moved on to see how I could be more competitive in the show circuit. This led to a lot of friends in other clubs/areas and a ton of friendly competition, swapping ideas, and respect for the low-rider community.

This competitive edge led me to re-evaluate the car to bring it too the next level that time & money would allow. My goals were to have fun with this project, to socialize with other enthusiast, and not go into debt over it. So the nest step was to be drastic. I decided to chrome my front suspension and other parts without going overboard so as to be tasteful. I sanded down all the parts myself and the BADASS of NE crew can whip up tons of stories if you ask. This was my first real hands-on mod doing myself with the direction of others. Once this was done I moved on to adding hood/trunk mirrors, sound system additions, and engine mods (throttle body bypass, air pump delete, Cool Flex hoses etc.). Also during this time I added to my frame reinforcements by strengthening the front lower control arms and adding a chainbridge. The chainbridge was a feat as the trunk floor had to be raised 4 inches to accommodate it. This allowed for a nice drop to the ground but with a nice spring stack to keep ride comfort. Over the last 2 seasons the car really took a hold on the scene with the addition of 2 more pumps as well as custom hardlines with chrome fittings. Just like with any mods, you start you realize how bad everything around it looks. Thus my batteries were painted to allow viewers to focus more on the setup as well as adding a few custom items under the hood (Hand-fabbed engine brace & intake). I also picked up some front seats from another Cadillac undergoing its own modifications. I then used these to make custom rear bucket seats for a sporty more aggressive feel to it. With a little DVD player and screen the interior looked subtle and different. At this time I had ran into a problem – exploding tires. With all the extra weight in the car from the reinforcements, chainbridge, and the hydraulics, the tires could not support the weight of the car. So every 3 weeks I was on the curb changing rims. This lead to purchasing the 18’s since I had built a daily driver and not a weekend cruiser. I spent 4 months researching before choosing these rims. I wanted something different then what the B&D community had but flowed with the car. I also didn’t want any maintenance such as rubberbands for curb dents, leaky spokes, rust, etc.

This pretty much sums up where the car is today. Its full of luxury and class while lookin’ pretty much stock till a hit of the switch or a trunk/hood is opened. Future mods are unknown but sure to come. Every detail of this car has been addressed and never could have been done without my friends, Twizted Stylz, and BADASS of NE
