I bought the car back in Feb of 2000 at a local used car lot, ever since the Impala’s first came out. I always wanted one of those car until the day that I decided to go look for a daily driver, at that time I used to owned a 1999 chevy Suburban, lowered and in style back then, and I wanted something else to drive back and fort to work, I walked in to this car lot looking for a 91-92 camaro, but they only had one and it was in bad shape, but then I saw this 3 chevy Impalas parked way in the back of the lot, so I asked the sales guy to show me the cars; it was love at first site, the minute I saw the car I knew it had to be mine, I drove the car home that night, and it became my daily driver for the next 3 weeks, but after driving it, I decided to pulled the Suburban out of the garage to store the new car
About 2 months after, I joined the local Impala Club (SSin City SS) and became a regular member, until the day that our leader (Terry Martin) decided it was time for him to leave the club, and I took over his position. The major modifications of the car started since the day that I had paid off the loan of the car, I still had a $12,000.00 balance on the loan, and before that, I had done just the basic bolt on stuff, ie. Headers, Exhaust, Intake, PCM programming, Gears etc. but then, after talking with Sam at
Combination Motorsports and seeing the kind of work that he does, I starter drooling over a new 383 stroker, so I saved some money and decided to give my Baby a new Heart, but it wasn’t just
going to stop right there, after the car was dropped off over at Sam’s place, we talked and decided to built a low compression engine to be able to add a blower later, after the new engine was done and installed, I drove the car about 500 miles and into the body shop, where it received a new face lift, smooth bumpers, shaved rear wheel moldings, ghost scripts, and a Kandy paint job, once out of the body shop, a new set of shoes where waiting at home, a new set of AR Torq Thrust II with new Falken tires, a new set of Baer Brakes with matching rear rotors, new trailing arms, new coil spring, and a new drive shaft.
After all those mods, the car went back to Combination to have the new blower installed, once that done, it was time for a new sound system, I called on a good friend of mine to have him do all the work, he designed and built all the necessary trunk pieces, ordered all the Alpine components to make the car sounds it’s best ever, he bought 2 Alpine MRD-M100 for the 2 “X” series 12” subs, and 2 MRD-F430 amps to drive the mids and highs, a DCA-7998 head unit and 2 sets of 6 ½” type “X” component speaker finish up the sound system.
The car got dyno tuned by Brian Herter a while ago and it dyno at 622 RWHP with 10 LBS of boost. Why did I choose this car to be my garage queen, my baby and my most loved car, well, it’s an American car, Chevrolet, and most important, it’s and Impala SS, and the second good thing about owning this car is having a great family of Impala owners that will do just about anything to help out, and that my friend is worth more than a million dollars.
